Volunteers needed to knit, crochet special hats for newborns

American Heart Association needs people to make hats for babies

They're hoping to give out thousands of red hats to babies to raise awareness about heart health and congenital heart defects.

Completed hats must be mailed to American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce SC 29033.

"Thank you for making this program so special and for helping to spread awareness of heart disease and congenital heart defects", the organisers say. "If it wasn't for the research and protocols put into place, my son may not have survived".

The organization needs helpers for its "Little Hats, Big Hearts" campaign, which provides homemade red hats to infants born at participating hospitals in February, also known as American Heart Month.
