Nathaniel Clyne undergoes back surgery, out until next year

David Moyes

Clyne has not featured at all this season because of a back injury, which also kept him out of any preseason action. Today, news he will be out until at least February confirms that the worst was, in fact, the reality.

Nathaniel Clyne's long-running and somewhat mysterious back injury has taken another turn, with the Liverpool right-back undergoing surgery on Monday, ruling him out until 2018. Even when he does return-assuming he does on schedule-he will have some way to go.

He did resume light training in September, but the 26-year-old has since suffered a setback and has now undergone "minor, corrective surgery" in a bid to rectify the problem.

Last season he played all but one of Liverpool's 38 Premier League games, making a total of 41 appearances in all competitions.

However, lawmakers in the past year have become increasingly skeptical of and at times antagonistic toward the tech industry. He says the company hasn't yet received an investigative subpoena issued by Hawley's office.

The Independent report that the 26-year-old still hopes to make England's squad for the World Cup, despite not playing since the end of last season and now facing the prospect of being sidelined until February at the earliest.

In his absence, youngsters Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez, who recently earned his first senior England call-up, have been deputising at right-back.

Meanwhile, for England, Clyne is now facing a real test should be hoping to be on the plane to Russian Federation with Gareth Southgate's Three Lions.

Whether this latest setback for Clyne will see the manager turn to the transfer market in January, remains to be seen.
