A cyclist who got fired from her job for making a rude gesture to the United States President Donald Trump's motorcade raised more than Dollars 70,000 in donations into a crowdfunding site set up.

A GoFundMe account set up on behalf of Juli Briskman has raked in over $70,000 in donations since it was activated a week ago.

The episode started when Ms Briskman was cycling through Sterling, Virginia, in September and President Trump's motorcade passed her on the way to one of his golf courses. A White House photographer snapped a photo of the glorious gesture, and the photo quickly went viral.

Three days later, the 50-year-old marketing executive was sacked by her company, government contractor Akima.

Briskman, who worked in marketing and communications at Akima for just over six months, said she emphasized to the executives that she wasn't on the job when the incident happened and that her social media pages don't mention her employer.

Now, wise people in support of flipping off our current POTUS as often as possible are stepping up to raise money for Briskman's post-employment existence. The gesture eventually cost the mother of two her job as she was laid off by her employer ten days later. By Tuesday, her bosses called her into a meeting and said she had violated the company's social media policy by using the photo as her profile picture on Twitter and Facebook.

"In some ways, I'm doing better than ever", she said.
