There have been previous instances of firing inside court premises in Delhi. The killer, Abdul Khan, was overpowered and arrested by the police.

It is suspected that the accused posed as a litigant. Hours after the murder, lawyers sought to blame police, saying that "laxity" in frisking and checking people at entry and exit gates was to blame.

This was the second shootout near the court complex.

"After attending trial in court number 113 when Vinod was coming back with the police force, Abdul Khan shot him on his head". It is also being probed how the man managed to sneak into the court premises with the weapon, the DCP said. When Vinod was being taken back an assailant opened fire on him, injuring him critically.

"He was in judicial custody from last 14 days and during the investigation, it was revealed that he had no other criminal involvements".

Shock news from the Queen as Charles steps into her place
The nation paid silent respect to those killed in the country's wars in a Remembrance Sunday service led by the Prince of Wales. A special tribute was held in honour of former Forces' Sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn, who celebrated her 100th birthday this year.

Vinod was taken to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital where he was declared brought dead, said the officer. He had been absconding for the past seven years in a cheating case registered at the south Rohini police station in 2010, over a sale of a plot there.

Police said that the accused initially claimed to be a juvenile, but later it was found that he is 24 years old and has a wife and a child.

The incident has raised serious concerns regarding the security of the courts in Delhi and additional deployment was ensured following the murder that took place in full public view. A country-made gun used by Khan, a resident of Nangloi, was recovered, police said.

President of the Rohini Court Bar Association, Mahavir Sharma, claimed they have highlighted the issue to police several times - but in vain. Khan is married and has a kid, said police.
