Salvation Army boosts campaign goal by 25%

Salvation Army seeks holiday bell-ringers

The Salvation Army in Auburn seeks volunteers to ring bells at its red kettles outside popular shopping venues this holiday season. Donations are largely collected by bell ringers outside grocery stores and other locations, as well as through a direct-mail campaign. According to a press release, 1,885 "angels" were helped in Bryan-College Station last year, and about 2,200 will be available for adoption this year. So we're just a kick off to get it started. "Many families have made participation in the Angel Tree a part of their own family traditions - buying gifts for their adopted Angel as a way to teach the act of charity and giving to their own children". "I challenge any player to go play nine hours a day for the Salvation Army".

Money raised during the campaign stays local in each community and is used by the Salvation Army to provide assistance throughout the year to those who face poverty, sickness, unemployment, and rising expenses.

Bell ringers and the familiar red kettles will be posted outside businesses in the metro area.
