Long Island weather: Rain likely, highs in mid 40s

The cold front that slides through town later this evening will kick off what will be a very active pattern for the upcoming work week.

Tonight, there is a chance of drizzle after midnight with the chance of patchy fog after 3 a.m.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy skies. The skies will clear but the afternoon temperatures will not warm that much. Monday night will be mostly cloudy, and the clouds will stick around for Tuesday, as will the high temperature in the low 40s. Highs in the 50s return on Wednesday along with scattered rainfall. Highs will remain in the mid 70s with sunny skies. Overnight lows will drop into the low 30's as another taste of winter-like air invades the state. Highs will be in the mid 60s with a slight chance for rain.

A stronger cold front moves in Friday and brings the chance for showers and even a few storms.

Forecasters expect near seasonal temps in the 30s 40s for most of the week with showers possible Wednesday, otherwise dry.

Saturday: Partly to mostly sunny. Sunday we will only see highs in the mid to upper 40s.
