Kelley's ex-wife, Tessa Brennaman said in an interview with the TV show "Inside Edition" that her life was filled with abuse when she was married to him. Kelley was court martialed in 2012 for beating Brennaman and for fracturing the skull of his young stepson.

Tessa Brennaman, 25, was married to Devin Kelley for 18 months, filing for divorce in October 2012.

The former wife of the gunman who rained terror on a Texas church has spoken out about her brief and turbulent marriage to the killer. They said all three were purchased by Kelley. He was confined to a military prison for one year in the case, and received a bad conduct discharge from the Air Force.

A resume posted online linked to an email address associated with Danielle Kelley identifies her as a teacher at the church from 2009 to 2013.

In addition to speaking out against Kelley's myriad "demons", Brennaman recalled a time when Kelley flew into a rage over a speeding ticket and held a gun to her temple. She says he frightened her.

Shortly before the shooting, Kelley attended a Halloween event at the church acting strangely and dressed all in black, alerting some members.

On Nov. 5, after Kelley opened fire at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, 26 were left dead, according to police statistics that include an unborn child.

However, investigators have said Sunday's shooting appeared to stem from a domestic dispute involving Kelley and his mother-in-law, and that he had sent threatening messages to her.

The shooter then died of a self-inflicted wound after being shot and chased by two residents when he was leaving the church, authorities said.

Eleven people remained hospitalized Friday with wounds from the shooting. Pastor Frank Pomeroy, who lost his adopted daughter in the attack, said leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention collectively made the decision to demolish the church, after it was deemed too painful to continue using the building as a place of worship.
