Spirited Nepal stuns India in U-19 Asia Cup

Nepali skipper Dipendra Singh Airee played a captains knocks of 88 runs in just over 100 deliveries with six hit to the fence and a towering six over a cow corner before returning with the ball to torment Indian's innings with four scalps.

Nepal finally overcame the Indian hurdle in its sixth attempt.

Nepal stunned defending champions India on the third day of the Under-19 Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

Brief scores: Nepal U-19: 185-8 in 50 overs (Dipendra Singh 88) beat India 166 in 48.1 ovs (Himanshu Rana 46, Dipendra Singh 4-39) by 19 runs. Dipendra, who received little support while batting, received good support from his fellow bowlers to claim the final three wickets and bowl out the Indian side with 11 balls to spare.

The early breakthrough, followed by wickets in quick succession in the succeeding overs, built confidence on the Nepali side to put on a fine bowling display.

India won the toss and opted to bowl first, and managed to bowl out the associate team for a lowly 185.
