Men responding to #MeToo movement

Thousands of men and women have weighed in on the #metoo movement on social media

So far it's been posted millions of times across all social media websites.

About 8 in 10 women who experienced unwanted advances involving work considered it sexual harassment, while over 3 in 10 considered it sexual abuse.

She said, "It begins with the way our children see us treat each other, how we treat women in our home, how we treat women in our community, in our churches, how we talk about women in the media". "I think it's kind of a mix of standing together as survivors of violence - you know, in that moment of violence, you feel kind of alone". Almost two-thirds of Americans say men who sexually harass female co-workers usually get away with it.

"Unfortunately there are people out there like that".

"This is insane. I've been taking walks, just spending less time on my phone and muting group [text] conversations", she said. It has not just made me a survivor but a fighter.

The police department has shared a post on Facebook, saying they were "perturbed" by the number of women who shared their stories of sexual abuse and reiterated their "pledge and commitment" by saying that "we hear every single one of you".

The global campaign took off on Sunday following a tweet by actress Alyssa Milano, which said, "Suggested by a friend: If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote "Me too" as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem".

But it happens to both men and women. It's time for men around us to acknowledge their acts.

Journalist Reham Khan regretted the country's treatment of harassment discourse in a tweet on her official account: "In Pakistan women will not be believed if they talk about sexual harassment".

But she also noted other survivors might not choose to share their stories - and that's okay.

"It's startling that it happens so often even today, where there's social awareness about it", said Roberta of Wichita.

Milano says she wasn't surprised by the outpouring.

"[Me too] was a catchphrase to be used from survivor to survivor to let folks know that they were not alone and that a movement for radical healing was happening and possible", Ms Burke told Ebony. "It can be really hard to confront it".

The Rape Crisis Center in Myrtle Beach said it was initially concerned because of fear this movement could cause people to open up when they aren't ready. It's a testament to the fact that people have been shamed into feeling that this is a discussion that they can't have. "This happens to anyone". The effects of abuse manifested in many forms for each woman: depression, sexual promiscuity, drug abuse and the inability to communicate with others.

"I would love to see this last a while", Brewer said.

Embarrassed that we find ourselves in these scenarios, we brush them under the rug and into the recesses of our minds to avoid the feelings they conjure. Women from all walks of life took to social media to admit they had suffered too. You deserve to be respected.

"A lot of it is how your project yourself and what you put up with", the woman said.
