Democrat Unveils, Then Shelves Articles of Impeachment Against Trump
Past efforts to get Trump on the road to impeachment have involved citing the president's actions, including his firing of then-FBI Director James Comey in May and the continuing-to-evolve revelations about the Trump presidential campaign's possible ties to Russians seeking to sway the USA presidential election, but this time around Green simply stood on the House floor and read Trump's tweets.
But Democratic leaders have mainly focused on attacking Mr. Trump's policy agenda; they have urged rank-and-file liberal activists to hold off on talk of impeachment while the gravest investigations into Mr. Trump's conduct run their course. He also accused Trump of "perfidy" in making the unsubstantiated claim that millions of people voted illegally in the 2016 presidential election. "President Donald John Trump is fueling an alt-right hate machine", Green said. "He warrants impeachment, trial and removal from office".
Even if the president were to be impeached, the Senate would then need to convict him.
In this Monday, May 15, 2017 photo, Congressman Al Green speaks to media during a press conference in which he called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump at the Houston Congressional District Office in Houston. Any move to impeach before those probes are complete, they have said, would be premature.
What makes this recent declaration different is that Green introduced a "privileged resolution", a document declaring that something (or, in this case, someone) goes against the integrity of the House, meaning the resolution should take precedence over the day's regular order of business.

Disney withdraws 'Jack and the Beanstalk' project
Details regarding the new project were not revealed, although insiders said it would be an original feature. The project was initially announced back in 2015 during Disney's D23 fan convention.
While Green's actions won't lead to an immediate impeachment of the President, it is yet another step in that direction. But when, less than an hour later, the House's presiding officer called the resolution up for action, Green did not appear on the floor to offer it.
The Times called the Democrats' prospects of winning both the House and Senate next year "unlikely".
"I rise today on behalf of the many who have concluded that enough is enough", Green said, according to the Washington Examiner.
If he had followed through, Green would have forced every Democrat in the House to put themselves on the record one way or another on impeachment.
This second round of impeachment articles against the president may have sounded impressive, but once again it has already turned out to be a lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing much of real importance.
