Studio says safety on 'Riverdale' set of 'paramount importance' following crash

CW series "Riverdale" actor K.J. Apa, met with an accident late at night while he was driving home from his shoot outside Vancouver.

This is after a day of shooting long-16 hours, KJ Apa, who was to perform a 45-minute ride back to his hotel, had his accident.

Following the accident, many were upset that Apa was allowed to drive after a long day of filming. Addressing rumors that the studio is overworking its cast and crew, Warner Bros. As with other shows, production on "Riverdale" often stretches into very late hours.

"The safety of the cast and crew on all of our productions is of paramount importance to the Studio", WBTV said in a statement to THR. That includes a turnaround time of 12 hours from wrap to next day call time, and the offer of a taxi, driver or hotel room to anyone who feels exhausted or unsafe after work. According to a Riverdale production source, cast members can request a hotel or driver if they are feeling too exhausted to make it home after filming.

"This is communicated to all cast and crew, both in writing and verbally, at the beginning of production and is reiterated continuously throughout the duration of the production", the statement read.

On Monday, the official China Daily said sanctions should be given time to bite but that the door must be left open to talks. That's going to take a bit of time, but it's already started to take effect.

As for Apa's accident, the spokesperson said that they were "extremely grateful" that the actor was uninjured. Yesterday, the union announced that this extremely troubling situation concerned them about the safety of performers on the "Riverdale" set. However, there should be some type of law that says, "if you work a 12 hour day, you must get a ride home". Apa returned to work later that day.

"K.J. has repeatedly been informed about making production aware if he is exhausted or feels unsafe, and if so, either a ride or hotel room will be provided for him", the statement read. He didn't suffer any serious injuries and was only taken to the local hospital for observation. He was reportedly immediately treated by first responders on the scene. "We also sent a doctor to his home later that same day for a follow-up to confirm his well-being", the statement concluded.

Apa has already bounced back from the incident.

Warner Bros. TV says the security of the cast and group of its Vancouver-based "Riverdale" set is of "foremost significance".
