Turkey survived a military coup attempt on July 15, 2016 in which 249 people including civilians died, while over a thousand were wounded.

Esen, a university student and model said she meant no political message in her post.

Itrir Esen was dethroned on Friday, a day after she won the contest which also gave her the right to represent Turkey at China's Miss World contest.
