Apple admits to Apple Watch LTE problems just before it ships

Apple Holds Product Launch Event At New Campus In Cupertino

While the Apple Watch Series 3 won't be found on consumers' hands until Friday at the earliest, Apple has already released a statement referring to issues that the smartwatch is apparently having when it comes to maintaining a cellular connection.

Apple Inc (AAPL.O) on Wednesday conceded its latest smartwatch unveiled a week ago has problems with its most important feature: the ability to make phone calls and access data without an iPhone nearby. "We have discovered that when Apple Watch Series 3 joins unauthenticated Wi-Fi networks without connectivity, it may at times prevent the watch from using cellular", an Apple spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

"We are investigating a fix for a future software release", the email said. Unlike previous versions of the watch, it has cellular network connectivity built in.

Many reviewers such as the New York Times praised the new features and gave generally positive assessments.

China's Central Bank Tells Banks To Stop Doing Business With North Korea
North Korea in recent weeks detonated its sixth nuclear bomb and has test-fired intercontinental missiles - saying it needs to defend itself against hostility from the United States and its allies.

"Considering that my Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE (both first and second review units) didn't function like it was supposed to, I can't recommend buying it - and paying the monthly cell fee - based on promises", Verge reviewer Lauren Goode wrote. And when LTE did connect, it quickly drained the battery.

The new Apple Watch hasn't shipped yet, but it's already running into some issues.

Shares of Apple fell around 2.5% this morning, which for Apple is a pretty substantial ding for the company despite the deceptively small number. Soon, users will be able to stream Apple Music from the device.

It is not clear how often the problem occurs or how hard it will be for Apple to get the release to Watch buyers. A model of the Apple Watch Series 3 without LTE support will also begin shipping this week, with prices starting at $329. "This is the first generation watch with LTE", he told Reuters. Users have reported problems sending messages from Miscosoft Outlook or Exchange accounts linked to iOS 11's Mail app. Users have been receiving "Cannot Send Mail" errors, and Apple has confirmed to 9to5Mac that it is "working closely with Microsoft" to fix the problem.
