UN Security Council to vote on new North Korea sanctions Monday afternoon

The unanimously passed resolution will impose the latest in a string of sanctions.

She added that, the USA remains willing to act alone to stop Kim's nuclear program if necessary.

"We regret to note that the DPRK continues relentlessly violating the resolutions adopted by the Security Council, and this inevitably leads to greater implications for the country and its leaders", Kazakhstan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Kairat Umarov said.

Even since the test launches of the Hwasong-14 ICBM, whose warhead payload, accuracy and ability to re-enter the atmosphere remain unverified, North Korea has stepped up its threats to the USA and its allies.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov earlier said, "Along with pressure on the North Korean regime to induce it to abandon provocations in the implementation of its nuclear and missile programs, it is necessary to emphasize and increase the priority of efforts to resume the political process".

North Korea's state media marked the nation's founding anniversary Saturday (Sep 9) with calls for a nuclear arms buildup, in defiance of mounting global sanctions.

They include a ban on the rogue country's textile exports and a cap on how much crude oil it can import rather than the full ban the US and South Korea had been seeking.

She also insisted that North Korea's "provocations" must be met with increased pressure to force them to engage in talks.

Ms Haley last week called the proposal "insulting" and said the United States has maintained that North Korea needs to halt their activities before talks can take place.

Employees at several branches of the country's "big four" - Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China and China Construction Bank - confirmed the financial curbs for North Korean clients.

"The forthcoming measures to be taken by the DPRK will cause the United States the greatest pain and suffering it had ever gone through in its entire history", the ministry said, using the abbreviation for North Korea's formal name.

The latest resolution also calls on countries to inspect vessels on the high seas, with the consent of the flag state, if they have reasonable grounds to believe the ships are carrying prohibited cargo to North Korea.

The draft is subject to approval by all 15 members of the security council.

Those sanctions came less than a month after the Treasury Department targeted 10 entities and six individuals that did business with North Korea.

"A full assessment (of the data) makes it possible to conclude that the North Korean nuclear test has not caused any environmental impact in China", the Chinese Ministry of Environment said in a brief statement on its official microblogging account.

"So we're working flat out at the United Nations to get a better resolution there to enforce the existing sanctions, we're looking at sanctions across the European Union, and of course we're trying to persuade China to keep its neighbour in check".

North Korea, in turn, vowed the US will pay a harsh price if harsher sanctions are approved by the U.N. Security Council on Monday as Washington and its allies pressed for an oil embargo following the communist state's sixth nuclear test.
