Trump says North Korea sanctions just the beginning

North Korea's Kim Jong Un sets a template for other rogue states

Republican Rep. Ed Royce, the committee chairman, said US and allied efforts should be "super-charged".

The UN Security Council is expected to vote on the USA led resolution later today, following North Korea's sixth and most powerful nuclear test to date on September 3.

She stressed: "These steps only work if all nations implement them completely and aggressively".

President Donald Trump speaks during a ceremony to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at the Pentagon.

"Today, the situation on the Korean peninsula is approaching the brink of war because of the hysterical USA hype aimed at strangling N. Korea", the diplomat said at a gala reception on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

"Today we are saying the world will never accept a nuclear armed North Korea". "We are now acting to stop it from having the ability to continue doing the wrong thing".

Haley further addressed the North Korean regime directly, saying it is not too late to change course.

"Although the sanctions reduce 90 percent of North Korea's main export items, and cut oil imports by over 30 percent, (the measures) will not be able to prevent (development of) nuclear missiles". "The response and actions the Security Council makes should be conducive to the denuclearisation of the Peninsula, conducive to safeguarding the peace and stability of the Peninsula, and conducive to push forward the use of peaceful and political means to resolve the Peninsula nuclear issue". If North Korea continues its risky path, we will continue with further pressure.

Ambassadors to the United Nations voting during a UN Security Council meeting on North Korea on Monday. It still proposes a ban on textile exports.

North Korea had said the latest test was an advanced hydrogen bomb. Textiles are one of North Korea's major exports, with a total export value estimated at $750 million in 2016, and the tens of thousands of North Koreans working overseas send a significant portion of their earnings home to the regime.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un hosted a massive celebration to congratulate his nuclear scientists and technicians who steered the country's sixth and largest nuclear test a week ago, its official news agency said Sunday. Additionally, other countries now can not issue work permits to North Korean labourers and firms can not indulge in joint ventures with the nation either.

Brexit customs "could cost United Kingdom traders GBP4bn a year"
Foreign secretary Boris Johnson pledged to work with the European Union in order to prevent such incidents in the future. It will also promise co-operation in imposing sanctions on other states.

Kim praised the developers in his own remarks as "taking the lead" in attaining the "final goal of completing the state nuclear force" in line with his parallel pursuit of nuclear and economic development.

It also followed a decision by Mexico last week to expel the North Korean ambassador on its territory. The resolution adds only the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea and the party's powerful Organization and Guidance Department and its Propaganda and Agitation Department to the sanctions blacklist.

The passage of the resolution comes the same day North Korea's Foreign Ministry used the sixteenth anniversary of 9/11 to warn the US that it would face "the greatest pain and suffering" if it went through with the sanctions. It said the US would pay a heavy price if the sanctions proposed by Washington are adopted.

The North's Foreign Ministry spokesman said the United States was "going frantic" to manipulate the Security Council over Pyongyang's nuclear test, which it said was part of "legitimate self-defensive measures".

The sanctions further squeeze North Korea.

Though Russia voted in favor of the resolution on Monday, President Vladimir Putin earlier downplayed the effectiveness of sanctions given North Korea's unrelenting nuclear ambitions.

Our President Donald Trump' bombastic words about North Korea being destroyed by the greatest concentration of "fire and fury" the world had ever seen if Kim Jong-un should strike the US with nuclear weapons did not and will not improve the unsafe situation in the Far East.

"The DPRK has developed and perfected the super-powerful thermo-nuclear weapon as a means to deter the ever-increasing hostile moves and nuclear threat of the U.S. and defuse the danger of nuclear war looming over the Korean peninsula and the region".

Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, has expressed concern that increasing sanctions on oil would have negative humanitarian impacts for the North Korean people.

Briefing the US lawmakers, Treasury Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing Marshall Billingslea displayed satellite photos to demonstrate North Korea's deceptive shipping practices.

"It will be a war more serious in terms of human suffering than anything we've seen since 1953", US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said in June of potential hostilities.
