Sinead O'Connor claims 'possessed' mother 'delighted' in sexually abusing her

Sinead O'Connor

In a preview clip of her emotional interview with TV psychologist Dr. Phil, Sinead says: "I am fed up of being defined as the insane person; the childhood abuse survivor".

When Dr. Phil asked what she loved most about her mom, the singer replied: "What I love about my mother is that she's dead".

O'Connor also laments about the fact that her own family will not take care of her, while accepting some of the blame for the tense relationship she has with her brood.

Sinead O'Connor has opened up about her struggle with mental illness in an emotional interview with Dr. Phil - her first appearance on TV since a harrowing video where she hinted at having suicidal thoughts went viral.

She said: 'I was asked one day would I grow my hair long and wear short skirts because they wanted to sell me on my sexuality.

"She ran a torture chamber, it was a torture chamber".

Phil said Sinead reached out to him, and that he offered to privately put her up at the Milestones at Onsite facility, where she's now receiving treatment (a facility she has recently criticized), but that she was adamant about coming on the show. Further, she detailed the abuse she experienced at the hands of her mother (from ages 0 to 13 she said), didn't refute Dr. Phil's claim that she had attempted to kill herself eight times, and said she wrote a suicide note on her guitar. "I thought it would be better, maybe my family might (reach out), if they saw how I'm feeling, they would relate to it". "She was a person who took delight and smile in hurting you", she explained, before revealing she ran away from home when she was just 13.

According to McGraw, O'Connor has recently spent time in a psychiatric inpatient facility, which has helped put her on the right track to recovery. According to Sinead, her mother not only physically abused her but sexually abused her as well.

She blasted her family for allegedly abandoning her: "What happened was I had been writing to my family, begging letters and angry letters". I didn't want to be pretty'. "We can be hard". The interview is scheduled to air Tuesday, but the Daily Mail released a clip early. You wouldn't want to be her. "I hope this comforts those of you were concerned".

She has previously revealed that she is bipolar and has suffered from intense depression. "That's part of where my suicidalness comes from", she said. "Soon as you get off stage, you're the a**hole you always are". However, if you or someone else is in danger or endangering others, call police immediately on 111.
