U2 to release new songs on Wednesday

U2 is slowly readying their follow-up to 2014's "Songs of Innocence".

The band on Tuesday teased the new song on social media, writing that they would both be sharing the cut as well as details on the forthcoming lead single, "You're the Best Thing About Me", which will drop on September 6. The actual single, "You're The Best Thing About Me", is coming out next Wednesday (Sept. 6.).

ABC/Randy HolmesU2 has premiered a brand-new song called "The Blackout" via a video posted on the band's official Facebook page.

One said: "Amazing news!Thanks so much".

It's three years since U2 released their last LP, Songs of Innocence - with long-time band pal Dave Fanning backing their Xmas release plan. Details of the new album will be confirmed on the same day.

Dave told the Irish Sun: "New U2 stuff always excites me because its great hearing new stuff from a band you love".

"What's great is new songs mean something to U2".

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, lead singer Bono talked about why it took so long for this new record to drop, and why that may have been for the best.
