Petersen also announced that sophomore defensive back Austin Joyner has been suspended for two games due to a violation of team rules.

"Azeem's a good guy ... you have team standards, you live by them", Petersen said, unwilling to go into details about what led to Victor's suspension. "It's a mistake. The hard thing is, you're in the public eye, so it's tough". Victor broke his leg during a game against USC last November and missed the final month of the season.

Victor will be eligible to return for the home opener September 9 vs Montana, while Joyner can make his season debut the next week at home against Fresno State.
