Leicester City are up and running for the season as they beat Brighton and Hove Albion by a convincing 2-0 at the King Power Stadium, thanks to a goal each from Shinji Okazaki and Harry Maguire.

Only complacency should stop Leicester from winning this game. Leonardo Ulloa though replaced Kelechi Iheanacho on the substitutes bench with the Nigerian forward suffering from a toe injury.

The striker, a summer signing from Manchester City, sustained the injury towards the end of pre-season and is still experiencing enough discomfort to have to visit a specialist.

Izzy Brown is Brighton's only new injury absentee.

Despite the alterations for the visitors, it did not take long for Leicester to seize the initiative. Cutting the ball onto his left foot, the Algerian produced a testing low drive. Brighton goalkeeper Mathew Ryan managed to get a hand to it, only for the rebound to fall straight to Okazaki, who calmly slotted home to give Leicester the lead in the opening minute.

Albion felt aggrieved again moments later when Jamie Murphy's shot hit Leicester's Wes Morgan on the arm, prompting a penalty appeal that was turned down by Lee Probert.

Shakespeare's team doubled their lead in the 54th minute when Maguire rose highest at the far post to head in from Mahrez's corner.

The red-hot Mahrez then almost notched a goal of his own as he met a Marc Albrighton cross.

Victory was secured without the need for a third goal, but a day of positivity for Craig Shakespeare's men ended on a slight sour note as Vardy hobbled off after appearing to injure his ankle in a stoppage-time collision with Ryan.

Despite that, the Foxes' strode home to secure their first win of the season whilst Brighton have suffered consecutive 2-0 defeats.

Overall it was a comfortable win for the Foxes that'll certainly give them a confidence booster for next weeks league clash against a rejuvenated Manchester United side.
