Liverpool reject third Barcelona bid for Philippe Coutinho

Phillipe Coutinho has left Liverpool's Melwood training ground amid Barcelona interest

Liverpool have already rejected bids of £70m and £90m for Coutinho, but the Brazilian submitted a transfer request last week, which will encourage Barcelona to again test Liverpool's resolve.

Liverpool had previously knocked back two approaches from Barcelona for the player, including a second £90 million offer.

Coutinho now remains unavailable for selection after picking up a back injury in Liverpool's pre-season campaign and is set to be sidelined for tomorrow's home fixture against Crystal Palace.

Now though, according to the Daily Mail, Barca have returned with a new bid of £114 million to try and pry their main transfer target from Merseyside.

"Barcelona have to know that united and together they have to fight to get out of this, whether or not there are new players".

The La Liga side have moved for Coutinho after selling Brazil team-mate Neymar to Paris St-Germain for a world record transfer fee of £200m.

It is refreshing to see Fenway Sports Group take such a resolute stance, particularly given the size of Barcelona's latest bid.

That much was evident in the two recent Super Cup matches against Real Madrid. With that in mind, it's little surprise a fresh offer has been lodged for the Liverpool No. 10.

Now then Liverpool, just how strong is your resolve when it comes to keeping Philippe Coutinho?

Liverpool want to show a "final position", insisting the player is not for sale.

"But it comes back to being late in the window and that is the hard situation Liverpool find themselves in". Even for a club as grand as the Catalan giants, Coutinho appears unattainable at this juncture.
