'Despacito' is now the most watched YouTube video of all time

Wiz Khalifa's 'See You Again' is no more most viewed video on YouTube

"Thank you to everybody involved @daddyyankee @zuleykarivera @elasticpeople Thank you, the fans for celebrating this song with us and thanks Puerto Rico for being the most attractive setting in the world".

The song, whose title means "slowly" in Spanish, took over Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's "See You Again", which only made it its way to the number one spot last month, after overtaking Psy's "Gangnam Style", which formerly held the position for over four years.

It seems like it was an inevitability that "See You Again" would be surpassed, but "Despacito" didn't take long to grab the throne.

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee are celebrating after their summer smash Despacito became the most-viewed video on YouTube.com with more than three billion hits. "Thank you all for supporting since day one!" The song was a tribute to Paul Walker, an actor in The Fast and Furious film franchise who died in a auto wreck.

As Vulture reports, the track, which is now sitting at just over three billion views, has dethroned Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's "See You Again", which is sitting at just under that mark. As I type this, the original version has been viewed 2,994,524,361 times, meaning that it's a sure thing to be the first-ever 3-billion-plus song on the site.
