Nico Hulkenberg slams 'nasty' and 'unsporting' Kevin Magnussen

Romain Grosjean will start fourteenth in Hungary- Credit Octane

Most F1 drivers are able to keep their personal rivalries behind closed doors, but one spilled out live on TV after the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Though the incident was referenced by the close following Magnussen over the team radio in criticism of the Renault man's actions, the FIA chose to take no action against him after an investigation.

Hulkenberg told the Dane that he was "once again, the most unsporting driver on the grid" in Sunday's race.

Magnussen was entirely unapologetic, telling Hulkenberg to "suck my b****, honey", before his rival was led away by a Renault official.

However, matters escalated later in the race when Magnussen forced Hulkenberg wide and off the track at Turn 2 when the German attempted to make a pass for 11th position.

Magnussen eventually finished 13th, in a race won by Sebastian Vettel with his Ferrari team mate Kimi Raikkonen in second place.

Even before the two collided on track, Magnussen had already commented on Hulkenberg's driving, complaining about the treatment of his team-mate Romain Grosjean. The Australian described his colleague as a "f***ing sore loser".

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner defended Magnussen after the race, saying Hulkenberg was hypocritical after his contact with Grosjean.

"I sum it up like: Nico was the guy who destroyed Romain's race, and then we get a penalty with Kevin". It's a tough battle?

"Hard defending is fine, but what he does is ruthless in sending people into the wall and what he did there, opening up the steering, making me run wide, it's just [expletive] bull****".

Steiner said he was planning to speak to Hulkenberg when F1 reconvenes at Spa after the summer break.

Asked by Autosport whether Magnussen was right to use the words that he used in talking to Hulkenberg, Steiner stood by his driver: "It's the right way to say it".

"You pick and choose here". He's a good driver but he doesn't need to be like this. "He's no world champion".
