The Chief Inspector for Amusement Park Rides at the Department of Agriculture, Michael Vartorella, says he and a team of four inspectors came out every day during the last week to look through all of the rides.

More than half of the fair's rides remained closed.

COLUMBUS, OHIO-A tragedy at the Ohio State Fair Wednesday night that left one man dead and five critically injured has sent shockwaves across the amusement industry.

"My children and my grandchildren ride this equipment", he said.

"I like showing pigs at the fair but there are a couple of rides I do not like at all", Swensen said. Director David Daniels says ride inspections is one of the most important things they do. The news shocked him.

"Because of the ride that broke down, I don't want to take any chances of any other rides breaking down", Swensen said.
